Why temps are just as important as permanent staff?

Temps are just as important as permanent staff and they often come in to help save the day when extra hands are desperately needed.

It can be easy to show a temp their desk and leave them to their own devices when we are all super busy.

Showing temps a warm welcome on their first day will help productivity, help them fit in and add to your company’s culture.

Here are some tips that might help you onboard and welcome those new temps:

✅ Be prepared: There’s nothing worse than starting your first day and getting the feeling they forgot you were coming today. Make a list to make sure you’re fully ready when they come in on their first day.
✅ Make sure you introduce them to everyone they will need to know and maybe provide them with a list of names after to help them.
✅ Welcome them at the door, provide them with a new-starter pack, show them the amenities and best places for lunch in the area.
✅ Assign someone to look after them: By choosing someone in the office that is warm, welcoming and knows lots about the job and company it will help fill in any gaps for them.
✅ Any team lunches or events coming up? Invite them on any social gatherings where possible to make them feel part of the team, even if it in only temporary.
